The relationship between India and Pakistan has become increasingly tense following the Pulwama terror attack. In this context, a Turkish naval warship, TCG Beykoz, arrived at the Karachi port in Pakistan on Sunday. The ship is expected to stay in Karachi until May 7. According to Pakistani officials, the visit is part of a friendship and maritime cooperation exercise between the two countries. The Turkish ship’s crew will exchange ideas with Pakistani naval personnel on various topics. This is not the first time that Turkish military personnel have visited Pakistan recently, as a Turkish air force C-130 aircraft had also arrived in Karachi a few days ago.
In recent times, the defense relationship between Pakistan and Turkey has strengthened. Turkish defense companies are providing assistance for the modernization of Pakistan’s submarines. Pakistan is also receiving military equipment such as drones from Turkey. Meanwhile, India has been taking various measures against Pakistan, including reducing water flow from the Chenab river and imposing sanctions on Pakistani ships. India has also banned the Twitter accounts of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Furthermore, India has canceled the leave of employees at 12 ordnance factories under the Ministry of Defence.
The Indian government has also taken other measures, including banning Pakistani ships from entering Indian ports and advising Indian vessels not to visit Pakistani ports. This is in response to Pakistan’s decision to ban Indian ships from entering its ports. On Sunday, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss security issues. The meeting was part of a series of discussions between the Prime Minister and the three service chiefs to assess the security situation. The meeting lasted for about an hour, and the Prime Minister had also met with Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi on Saturday evening.
The tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, with Pakistan expecting a retaliation from India at any moment. There have been reports of provocations from the Pakistani side, and the ceasefire violation by Pakistan has continued for the tenth consecutive day.
