Pakistan Parliament to Elect Shehbaz Sharif as Prime Minister

Islamabad: Pakistan Parliament will elect Harbaz Sharif as Prime Minister on Sunday. The National Assembly Secretariat (NA) released the procedures in this regard.

Newly sworn-in MNAs (Members of National Assembly) will vote for the post of Prime Minister on Sunday. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and allies have also nominated Shehbaz Sharif.

Sunni Ittihad Council (SIC) announced Omar Ayub as the candidate. Candidates can submit nomination papers till 2 pm on Saturday. Final list will be released after scrutiny of nomination papers.

The newly elected MNA took oath before Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf. On February 13, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif nominated his younger brother and party president Shehbaz Sharif for the post of prime minister. PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz was also decided as the Chief Minister of Punjab. Former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, a senior leader of PPP, will get the post of President.
