Apple’s iOS 17.3 Introduces Stolen Device Protection for iPhones

iPhone security

Owners fear that their iPhone will be lost or stolen. More than the loss of the phone bought by spending lakhs, it is the loss of the data on it and its exploitation. If the thief finds the passcode, then the iPhone is under their control. Any abuse can be done using its data.

But now Apple has come up with a security shield for that. A security feature called Stolen Device Protection has been introduced in iOS 17.3. This service can render a stolen iPhone unusable by the thief.

The new feature, released through an Apple software update, will protect the phone when it goes outside of authorized locations. That means the iPhone will need biometric unlocking to do certain things when the thief is away from your home or workplace with the phone. If the thief goes outside the places where you regularly use your iPhone, you can only use Face ID to operate the phone.

How to use the new security feature..?

Update to the latest iOS 17.3. Next, the Stolen Device Protection settings will come to the fore. Turn it on. Below is the method to do it manually.

Open the phone settings. Tap on Face ID and Passcode option. Scroll down until you see the Stolen Device Protection option. If this feature is shown as off there, Apple suggests turning it on.
