Renault has officially released the images of Duster, which is much awaited by Indian car lovers. Last year, Renault showed the picture of Dacia’s Duster in Europe, but now the pictures of the new generation Duster with Renault written on the front instead of the logo have come out. Duster is expected to return to the Indian market in the second half of 2025.
Dacia, the Romanian partner of the French automaker Renault family, has launched the Duster in Europe. Just like Dacia is written instead of the logo on the grill, the new Duster coming to India has RENAULT written on it. The Indian Duster has only minor changes compared to the Dacia. The Nissan variant of the Duster will arrive after the Renault Duster.
CMF-B platform
Renault has built the Duster on the CMF-B platform, keeping the rugged look. The length is 4.34 meters which is slightly longer than the old model. In the first phase, the 5-seater vehicle will arrive in India. Expect a 7 seater soon. It will be similar to the Dacia Bigster concept. The wheelbase will be slightly shorter than the current model, at 2,657 mm.
Like the Dacia, there are ‘Y’ shaped LED daytime running lamps and upright air vents on the bumper with circular fog lights. The design around the grill is reminiscent of a bulbar. The 18-inch alloy wheel is given a simple design. The rear also has ‘Y’ shaped tail lights. The design of the rear bumper is also similar to the Dacia Duster.
Premium interior
The dashboard is also similar to that of the Dacia. But there is a change in the seat upholstery. The center console is attached to the driver’s side. The higher variants have two digital screens. One is a 7.0-inch driver information and the other is a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. The screens are identical in Dacia and Duster. But there are differences in fonts and color themes.
Full of features
Key features include wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, and an Arkames 3D sound system with 6 speakers. Duster also has safety with EDAS technology. Safety features include automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, speeding alert, rear parking assistant and lane change warning.
A hybrid will also arrive
The similarity with Dacia is also in terms of engine. Two of the three engine options are hybrids. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine is hybridized with two electric motors. This engine has an automatic gearbox. The 1.2 KW battery helps the vehicle run on electricity for up to 80 percent of city trips. Next is the 1.2 liter three cylinder turbo petrol engine. A 48V starter motor is attached to this 130 bhp engine. Next is the 1.0 liter petrol engine. LPG is also available only in some markets. Renault is not launching a diesel model in the new Duster.
Drive modes
Renault Duster has several driving modes like Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off Road and Eco. The vehicle has an excellent ground clearance of 217 mm, an approach angle of 31 degrees and a departure angle of 36 degrees. Renault Duster will be launched in the Indian market in the second half of next year. The Duster will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tigun, Skoda Kushak, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider.
