Indian Visitors Describe Shocking Experience during Bangkok Earthquake
A brutal earthquake hit Bangkok and left its visitors in devastation, including Indians tourists who visited the city. The Indian visitors had a scary time as their buildings shook badly with the effect causing them and hundreds of locals much distress, prompting them to relive some horrific moments by detailing their dreadful encounter.
One of the visitors, who requested anonymity, referred to the atmosphere as "apocalyptic." "We were in a restaurant downtown when the quake struck. The ground started shaking really hard and there was this crashing and screaming everywhere. It was something I've never experienced before," he said.
One tourist, Rohan Kumar, described the fear that gripped him as the quake occurred. "I was staying in my room in the hotel when the quake hit. The hotel started to sway and there was the cracking of glass sounds. I got my family out of the room without knowing what was happening," he explained.
The visitors recount the panic and disorientation subsequent to the earthquake. "People were rushing madly, trying to evacuate the buildings. There was a lot of screaming and panic. It was a very terrifying experience," another visitor, who only gave her name as Priya, said.
Even though they went through the trauma, the tourists commended the Thai authorities for responding promptly to the tragedy. "The authorities were very prompt in responding. They evacuated us from the buildings and gave us food and water. They were very supportive and helpful," Rohan said.
The quake has left Indian tourists shaken and desperate to head back home. "We just want to go back home now. We're tired and shaken. We want to be with our families and feel safe again," Priya said.
