US Deports Unauthorized Indian Immigrants on Military Planes
The United States has used military planes to deport unauthorized Indian immigrants back to India. The move comes as reports have surfaced that the US military has been busy sending such immigrants back home using specialized aircraft. According to reports, the deportation was to be completed in hours after the flight left the US.
The action follows a request by the Trump administration to seek military support to deal with the growing issue of illegal immigration, especially on the US-Mexico border. Besides sending military personnel, the US has also used military planes for deportation to several countries, including Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras.
The move marks a significant change in policy under President Trump, who has focused on combating illegal immigration throughout his tenure. The US government has been keen on using every available resource, including military vehicles, to enforce stricter immigration laws. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed concerns regarding the growing number of illegal immigrants being deported to India.
Earlier, discussions between Modi and President Trump revealed shared concerns on the matter of illegal immigration. President Trump had praised India for its efforts at eradicating the problem. Trump mentioned that India had been doing the right thing by taking back its illegal immigrants.
In the previous months, massive numbers of Indian nationals were deported from the US particularly in September and October. The Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also mentioned that any illegal Indian citizen breaking US laws and remaining beyond their term in the country would naturally return to India via legal means.
After President Trump's re-election, he increased efforts against illegal immigration. After being sworn in for a second term, the Trump administration took drastic measures, including arresting unauthorized immigrants and deporting them using military aircraft. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that large numbers of unauthorized immigrants had been removed using military planes.
Prime Minister Modi also plans to make a trip to the US in the last days of this month, where possibly further immigration discussion may take place. It is likely to denote a deeper engagement on how to deal with rising illegal immigration within both nations.
The US has adopted a more assertive approach on illegal immigration by forcing immigrants back into their countries through military means. This strategy is part of the broader efforts of the Trump administration to control immigration and secure the country's borders more effectively. Meanwhile, India continues to address the increasing number of deportations and emphasizes cooperation with the US on immigration matters.
