Indian Navy's Sagar Parikrama II: INSV Tarini Arrives at Port Stanley
With a stunning demonstration of seamanship and navigation skills, the Indian Navy sailing ship INSV Tarini has arrived at Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands, thereby attaining a remarkable milestone in its Sagar Parikrama II mission.
In keeping with the Indian Navy's endeavour to foster ocean sailing and inspire women in adventure sports, INSV Tarini embarked from Goa on September 10, 2022, with a crew of all women. The ship, covering more than 22,000 nautical miles, will circumnavigate the globe and serve to enhance the culture of adventure and exploration.
The crew, under the leadership of Lieutenant Commander Swathi P, has been outstanding in terms of skill and perseverance, facing difficult weather conditions and turbulent seas. The arrival of the ship at Port Stanley is a landmark achievement, given that it is one of the most isolated ports in the globe.
The Sagar Parikrama II expedition is not just a demonstration of the Indian Navy's passion for encouraging ocean sailing but also a celebration of women empowerment and their increasing involvement in adventure sports. The incredible journey of the crew has inspired millions of people across the globe, demonstrating the strength of human will and the need to break beyond one's boundaries.
While INSV Tarini goes on to become a legendary journey, the ship is scheduled to make some more port stops in ports worldwide, fostering people-to-people exchange, naval cooperation, and adventure spirit. The Indian Navy's Sagar Parikrama II mission is an exemplary expression of India's enhanced maritime capability and its drive to foster peace, cooperation, and friendship on the planet.
