UK Companies Embrace Four-Day Workweek with No Pay Cuts for Over 5,000 Employees

200 UK Firms Switch to Four-Day Workweek Without Pay Cuts

Several companies in the UK have adopted a four-day workweek policy, with 200 British firms already embracing this model. According to a report by *The Guardian*, over 5,000 employees are currently benefiting from this change across these 200 companies. This initiative, inspired by models in the Gulf region, has gained significant traction, especially within marketing and technology sectors.

The key advantage of this approach is that workers maintain their full salary despite working fewer hours. Around 30 companies in the marketing, advertising, and public relations industries were the first to implement this change. Following this, 29 charity, NGO, and social care organizations, as well as 24 technology and IT firms, joined the movement. In addition, 22 businesses in the management, consulting, and business sectors also adopted the new working schedule.

London-based businesses are leading the way in this shift, with 59 companies in the city now following the four-day workweek. According to the Director of Campaigns at the 4 Day Week Foundation, Joe Ryle, the new model benefits both employees and employers without any loss in pay. The policy has garnered support from various senior politicians, including Labour Party Deputy Leader Angela Rayner.

In total, these efforts suggest that the four-day workweek could become a permanent fixture in the future of work across various sectors in the UK.
