The International Institute for Management Development in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design has released the IMD Smart City Index, a list of smart cities in the world.
A smart city is decided on the basis of governance, digital services, better education and employment opportunities, security and infrastructure.
Like every year, Zurich, Switzerland topped the list this year. Since 2019, Surrey has topped the list. Apart from Australia's Canberra and Singapore, the world's top ten smart cities are all in Europe. Delhi ranks first in the list of Indian smart cities in the world. The Smart City Index released by IMD is used by international organizations and institutions as a reference for understanding cities.
