Maruti Suzuki-Toyota joint venture Urban Cruiser Taysor has been launched in the Indian market. The cheapest model in Toyota's lineup, the Tysor is priced between Rs 7.74 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh ex-showroom. The Urban Cruiser Tysor is based on the crossover model Frangs launched by Maruti Suzuki.
Unlike the usual cross-badging models, the Tysor's design has made significant design changes from the fronts. Honeycomb grille, redesigned bumper, new LED DRLs and a faux skid plate are new in the face. Meanwhile, the headlamp is borrowed from the fronts. The 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with redesigned sides make up the difference.
Only minor changes have been made in the interior. The highlight is the brown and black upholstery. The main attraction of the Tysor will be the nine-inch infotainment system, automatic climate control, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, etc. Two airbags, ABS, EBD and seat belt warning are the basic safety features on the Tysor.
Tysor has borrowed the mechanical features entirely from Frongs. 89.7 p.s. Power is 113 Nm. 1.2 liter Dual Jet Dual VVT that delivers torque. Petrol engine, 100 p.s. Power is 147.6 Nm. The Fronx is powered by a torquey 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine. The transmission options are five-speed manual, five-speed AGS and six-speed automatic.
