Moscow: The dam collapsed as the snow melted and the water level rose dramatically. The incident took place in the Orenburg region of Russia. As the water rose, tens of thousands of people were relocated. A part of the dam collapsed in Orsk, known as the mountain city. Unexpected water flow occurred in the Ural River due to the gradual melting of snow. This caused the earthen dam on the river to collapse.

Evacuation of people from the flood-affected Ural mountain region is in progress as the water has risen. Earlier, a flood warning was issued in the Orenburg region due to melting snow. There are 4,000 houses and 10,000 residents in the flood zone.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry explained in a statement yesterday that the work in the area where the Orsk dam broke is continuing. The Russian ministry also explained that residents are being evacuated from two of the three districts of the Orsk region. The earthen dam collapsed on April 5. The mayor explained that around 300 houses have already been swallowed by the flood water.
