Tesla Cyberbeast: The Fastest Pickup in the World

Tesla Cyberbeast

Does the Tesla Cybertruck live up to expectations? In general terms no, since the final model has fallen short in many aspects of what it announced in its first presentation. That, however, does not mean that it is not a model worth talking about, nor that it is not a real beast, especially its three-engine version.

The one called Tesla Cyberbeast was announced as Tri Motor and there are some differences between the two, but in general terms it is the variant that has most closely followed what it promised. In fact, it has been enough for it to establish itself as the fastest pick-up in the world.

First, let's compare the data that Tesla put on the table at the time and those it revealed at the end of last year, taking into account that in both cases the configuration of three motors and all-wheel drive has been maintained.

The Tesla Cybertruck Tri Motor promised acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, a maximum speed of 210 km/h and a range of 805 km. Is that something the Cyberbeast has accomplished? Partly yes, even improving the announced figures, and partly no.

Thus, what interests us today, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, is reduced by three tenths to stay at 2.6 seconds. The negative part was a top speed of 209 km/h, something barely perceptible, but a reduced range to only 514 km.

Now, one thing is what is advertised on paper and another is what a vehicle actually performs. We had to wait for someone to get to work with the most powerful Cybertruck (it develops 845 HP) and finally someone has done it: the colleagues at Car & Driver.

With their own measurements, they have confirmed that the Tesla Cyberbeast is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, which gives it the title of the fastest pick-up in the world. Thus, it is ahead of its direct competitors, also electric trucks, the Rivian R1T and Hummer EV, which needed 3 and 3.3 seconds, respectively, to complete the sprint.

In fact, the Cybertruck, which we remember is a mass that weighs more than 3 tons, has been the fourth fastest electric car to reach 100 km/h from a standstill of all the models that the magazine has been able to test.

What is the podium ahead of you? First place remains at home, with the Tesla Model S Plaid only needing 2.1 seconds, a time tied by the Lucid Air Shappire and behind which is the Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo with 2.4 seconds.

Needless to say, these are the times of the models that our colleagues have been able to test, but there are many other cars that have a 0-100 km/h time considerably faster than the Cyberbeast.

Among the electric ones, the Rimac Nevera completes the sprint in 1.81 seconds, while the Pininfarina Battista only needs 1.86; but the king is still a combustion model, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 and its 1.74 seconds… at least until the Tesla Roadster arrives with its supposed 0-100 in just 1 second.
