Porsche to Unveil Radical Taycan to Rival Tesla Model S Plaid

Taycan

Porsche will reveal on March 11 what is going to be the most radical and wild Porsche Taycan to date, the one that wants to surpass the Tesla Model S Plaid. Reports suggest it will have more than 1,000 HP of power and has already surpassed the Model S Plaid in its Nürburgring lap time.

It is not news that Porsche has been working on a vitaminized version of the Porsche Taycan for some time. The objective? Beat its archenemy, its reason for existing, the Tesla Model S Plaid. His arrival? Next week it will be officially revealed and it seems that the Stuttgart firm has put all its efforts, as it suggests that it will be able to beat the most extreme Tesla in history.

In 2022 I already told you that Porsche was going to install three engines in the Taycan to surpass the Tesla Model S Plaid. And at the beginning of last year we confirmed that this version would have more than 1,000 HP of power, a figure very close to the 1,020 HP advertised by the Plaid.

But there is more. In January of this year the company announced that a pre-production version of the new Taycan had become the fastest electric Porsche around the Nürburgring, with a lap time of 7:07.55, making it 26 seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo. S and more than 17 seconds faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid, which stopped the clock at 7:25.23.

The most extreme Porsche Taycan is about to be presented

Now, the German company has confirmed that Kevin Giek, vice president of the Taycan range; Timo Bernhard, Porsche ambassador; and Lars Kern, Porsche development driver, will present the new Taycan on March 11, 2024.

This announcement has been accompanied by a teaser image that shows the silhouette of a Taycan in which a rear spoiler stands out that could be active, due to its shape. At the controls, a pilot with a helmet included, which gives us a sign that it will not be just any Taycan.

The most powerful Taycan so far is the Turbo S with 952 HP and 1,110 Nm of torque, which is equipped with two electric motors and a 105 kWh battery with which it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds and announces a maximum speed of 260 km/h, with an approved range of 635 kilometers per charge.

However, this new version is going to be even more extreme. It is said that it will exceed 1,000 HP of power and that it will have dizzying acceleration, which will allow it to stop the clock from 0 to 100 km/h before the new Taycan Turbo S.

Although it has not yet been confirmed what its name will be, some reports suggest that it will be known as the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. The number of engines that its propulsion system will have is also not official, although there has been talk for years that it will equip three electric units, despite the fact that it is not officially confirmed by the brand.

It will also benefit from all the changes introduced in the new 2024 Porsche Taycan, although this takes a backseat if we take into account that the jewel in the crown will be its propulsion system and its chassis configuration, a combination that has made it the Fastest electric Porsche in the Green Hell.
