Before going into details, let me tell you that the new Renault 5 arrives with a body that measures 3.92 meters in length, 1.77 meters in width and 1.5 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2. 54 meters and a 275 liter trunk.

The model will be available with three different propulsion systems, offering powers of 95 HP, 120 HP and 150 HP. There are also two battery options, 40 kWh and 52 kWh, which allows you to homologate 300 kilometers in the case of the option with the lowest energy capacity, and 400 kilometers in the most efficient model.

And as for prices, although figures for the entire range have not yet been announced, Renault has reiterated on more than one occasion that the entry-level model will have a price, before discounts, of around 25,000 euros.

Fiat 500e

The first of these serious competitors is the Fiat 500e, an A-segment urbanite that is a benchmark in its market. It is the smallest of all, only 3.63 meters long, 1.68 meters wide and 1.52 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.32 meters and a 185-liter trunk. It is offered in coupe, convertible and 3+1 versions.

On a mechanical level, the Fiat is for sale in two versions. The first offers 95 HP of power and is powered by a 23.7 kWh battery with which it is capable of homologating up to 190 km of autonomy per charge. The second reaches up to 118 HP, with a 42 kWh battery and an approved range of 330 kilometers.

Opel Corsa Electric

The new Opel Corsa Electric is also among the main alternatives to the new R5. In this case, it is a B-segment utility vehicle with a five-door body that measures 4.06 meters long, 1.76 meters wide and 1.43 meters high, as well as a wheelbase of 2. 54 meters. Added to this is a 265-liter trunk.

The mechanical offer in the electric version is reduced to two options. The first has 136 HP of power, is powered by a 50 kWh battery and approves up to 357 kilometers of autonomy per charge. The second, with 156 HP, increases the capacity of its battery to 54 kWh and its approved range reaches 405 kilometers.

The price of the Opel electric utility vehicle is 34,800 euros.

Mini Cooper E and SE

The new generation of the Mini Cooper is also positioned as a rival to beat for the Renault 5 E-Tech. In this case, we are talking about the fully electric Cooper E and Cooper SE versions, which measure 3.85 meters long, 1.75 meters wide and 1.46 meters high, with a 2.52 meter wheelbase, a Three-door body and a 210-liter trunk.

The Cooper E version has a power of 184 HP and is equipped with a 40 kWh battery that provides enough energy to travel up to 305 kilometers per charge. The second option, the Cooper SE, increases the power to 218 HP and has a 54 kWh battery. In this case, the approved autonomy amounts to 402 kilometers per charge.

The Mini Cooper E, the most economical version, has a starting price in Spain of 38,400 euros.

Peugeot e-208

Almost hand in hand with the Corsa Electric comes the Peugeot e-208, another of the rivals to beat for the electric R5. It is also a segment utility vehicle and has a five-door body that measures 4.05 meters long, 1.74 meters wide and 1.43 meters high. Its wheelbase reaches 2.54 meters, while its trunk offers 265 liters of volumetric capacity.

The mechanical options are identical to those of the electric Corsa. On the one hand, a 136 HP model with a 50 kWh battery and an approved range of 363 kilometers. On the other hand, a more powerful 156 HP model, with a larger capacity battery (54 kWh), which allows it to travel up to 400 kilometers between charges.

The price, in this case, and without applying discounts or promotions, is 35,650 euros.

Citroën ë-C3

Closing the list of rivals to beat for the new Renault 5 2024 we have another of the most important revelations of recent months, the new Citroën ë-C3. On this occasion, its marked SUV style allows it to have a body that is 4.01 meters long, 1.75 meters wide and 1.56 meters high, as well as a wheelbase of 2.54 meters and a trunk 310 liters.

The mechanical offer is reduced, for now, to a single electric propulsion system that develops 113 HP of power and is powered by a battery with 44 kWh of energy capacity. This configuration allows you to homologate up to 300 kilometers per charge. Later, a lower power version with about 200 km of autonomy will be added.

Without taking into account the most economical version of the range, which has not yet been presented, the Citroën is on sale from 23,800 euros.
