Moscow: Three days of voting to elect the President of Russia has begun. Incumbent President Vladimir Putin is expected to unilaterally win a fifth term as the opposition has been weakened by imprisoning, deporting or banning key leaders from running.
The result will be out on Sunday itself. Those elected will take office in May. The first election since the start of the invasion of Ukraine will reveal public opinion on this matter. Communist Party leader Nikolai Kharitonov, Liberal Democratic Party leader Leonid Slutsky and New People's Party leader Vladislav Davankov are also in the running, but Putin is not thought to be a challenger.
Voting center in Kerala too
As part of the Russian presidential election, a polling center was also set up in Kerala. The Russian House in Thiruvananthapuram has provided facilities for Russian citizens in India to vote.
