Before its official launch at the New York Motor Show, Nissan has released details of the new Kicks. The Kicks is generally the largest vehicle in the SUV segment. The Kicks shares similarities with the Mitsubishi Xforce SUV sold in the Indonesian market.

Although there are no differences in terms of design, the Kicks SUV is currently available on two platforms. The Kicks Indian model is based on the B0 platform found in vehicles like the Renault Dester. The Kicks SUV was built on the V platform in ASEAN countries and North American countries. This is the platform on which the Nissan Micra and the Sunny sedan are built.

The new Kicks SUV will also be launched internationally on one platform. The second-generation Kicks SUV will be available in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive models. Nissan will introduce the Kicks as an entry-level SUV in the North American market.

The Kicks also gets similar doors and roof to the Xforce SUV. It has coupe-like rooflines that flow towards the rear. Large wheel arches and matte black body cladding all around enhance the SUV look. The top model gets 19-inch alloy wheels. The list of features goes on like touch sensitive HVAC, four USB C ports, wireless charging pad, wireless Apple Car Play, Android Auto connectivity, panoramic sunroof and head rest mounted.

Inside, the main attraction is the 12.3-inch infotainment system. Like the Xforce, the Nissan Kicks SUV has a double-layered dash board. But Nissan claims that the Kicks SUV is built using premium materials than the Mitsubishi Xforce. Kicks comes with Adas security features. Intelligent cruise control is available from the standard model onwards. Higher models get the ProPILOT assist system.

Nissan has been selling Kicks in India for a few years now. But in terms of sales, Kicks' performance was dismal. With the arrival of the new-generation Kicks, Nissan hopes to see a kick in sales as well. Nissan is currently in the process of launching a Renault Triber-based MPV and its own Duster model. After that, we can expect the new generation Kicks to hit the Indian market.
