India data center

Washington: Meta has started work on its first data center in India. Meta's move also recognizes the popularity of short video reels in India. This news was reported by Moneycontrol.

In this regard, it is indicated that the first phase study will be conducted in the first quarter of 2024. Facebook is exploring the possibilities of setting up a small data center of 10 to 20 MW capacity. It is not clear how much Facebook will spend for this.

The cost of building a Tier 4 data center in India is between Rs 50 to 60 crore. According to this information, META will invest 500 to 1200 crores in India for the new project.

The reels wave in India is the main driver for Meta to start data centers. In July 2020, Instagram brought Reels to India. With the ban on ByteDance-owned Tik Tok, the number of viewers of Instagram Reels in India has increased tremendously.
