Maruti Suzuki has announced that the country's first electric MPV will be released in 2026. Codenamed YMC, this electric multipurpose vehicle will be launched based on the EVX electric SUV. Maruti Suzuki has already announced that it will launch the EVX SUV later this year.

Recently Carscoops released pictures of Maruti Suzuki's YMC Electric MPV. This vehicle has three rows of seats and a premium look. The vehicle has similar looks to the EVX electric SUV. Especially the Y-shaped LED DRLs at the front and the long strip between the side lights. The MPV's large blade-style alloy wheels, which come in dual-tone colours, were also noticed.

Maruti Suzuki also provides the new MPV with a 27PL skateboard platform. This electric MPV is launched by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Motors Corporation. Both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will launch electric MPVs in different body styles but without much change inside.

The MPV will have the same electric motor and battery options as the EVX. Reports are also coming out that the EVX will have two battery pack options. The first will be 40kWh and the second will be 60 kWh. The large battery pack gives a range of up to 550 km. And all wheel drive will be supported.

Maruti Suzuki announces that it will launch its first electric MPV in September 2026. Expect the price to be between 20 lakhs and 30 lakhs. Apart from the EVX Electric SUV and the YMC Electric MPV, Maruti Suzuki has plans to launch two more EVs in the Indian market.

The first will be a seven-seater electric SUV. This vehicle will also be built on the 27PL Skateboard EV architecture. 40kWh and 60kWh battery options are also expected. The maximum range is 550 km. The second is the electric mini EV. The main competitors will be Tata Tiago EV and Citroen EC3. Expected to be launched in May 2026, Maruti Suzuki's mini EV will be built on a new EV platform. Maruti Suzuki has not released any information about the design or features of this mini EV, which is likely to make waves in the electric vehicle sector.
