Google Play Store banned a few Indian apps, including Bharat Matrimony and Shaadi.com Matrimony, over a dispute related to service fee payment. Google has taken action against 10 companies after showing that many companies that are doing well despite benefiting from the Play Store are not paying the fees.
But now Google has restored some Indian apps that were removed from Playstore. The decision was withdrawn when the central government intervened. The Union IT Ministry intervened in the problem and convened a meeting of the concerned parties. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has stated that he is strongly opposed to Google's action of removing apps and will not allow it.
Google has brought back InfoEdge's apps including Naukari, 99acres and Naukari Gulf. People's Group's Shaadi is also back today. Other apps are expected to return soon
Alphabet Inc has sent notices to Bharat Matrimony apps parent Matrimony.com and Jeevansathi-run InfoEdge for violating Play Store rules. After the action of Google, the shares of matrimony.com fell. According to Google, only 3% of India's 200,000 apps have service fees.
