Washington: The UN is preparing to use the Israeli military road to bring aid to Gaza. Possibilities of delivering aid through the border road with the Gaza Strip are being explored. In this way, the move is to bring aid to the northern areas of Gaza. This was reported by Reuters.

The UN has warned that 5,76,000 people in Gaza are facing severe starvation. The UN also stated that if urgent aid is not provided, there will be major consequences in Gaza.

Jamie McGoldrick, the UN coordinator for Palestine, said Israel had been pressing for the past week to bring aid by military road.

Aid can currently be delivered to southern Gaza via the Rafah border from Egypt and Kerem Shalom from Israel. Here the aid vehicles will be checked and escorted by the Israeli army to the border village of Beri via the military road. From there, aid vehicles will be taken to different areas of Gaza, the UN said. The UN also stated that aid distribution can be carried out effectively once inside Gaza.

At the same time, Israel has carried out mass killings, denying aid and bombings amid domestic and international pressure. The Ministry of Health announced that 18 people died in Gaza due to extreme hunger. Reports also state that babies are dying in hospitals across Gaza, crippled by severe malnutrition. 15 of the dead are children. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris came out strongly the other day against the use of starvation as a weapon.
