The electric vehicle receives its first update.
Although it may not seem like it, many of the electric cars on the market have already been on sale long enough for their turn to receive their first updates. Now it's up to the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is undergoing a complete update that affects many of its areas.
As is common in this type of case, although there are aesthetic changes, they are of little importance, mainly details and touch-ups.
The modifications focus on the bumpers, with the front one featuring a wider air intake. New wheel designs are also added that improve aerodynamics and the rear spoiler is lengthened a bit. In addition, the N Line finish is incorporated into the range, with a specific image and outstanding details such as 20-inch diameter wheels.
The cabin is easily recognizable, since the structure that was proposed until now has been respected (in fact there are not even changes in the size of the screens), but adding small improvements in ergonomics, which facilitate the user's interaction with the different controls.
Thus, the heated seats have physical buttons, as well as the heated steering wheel or the parking assistant. The wireless charging surface for smartphones is also relocated, which is now parallel to the two coasters.
Hyundai has also improved the infotainment system, which has remote wireless updates (OTA), and interesting functions have been added such as automatic remote folding of the rear seats or a dash-cam that is already integrated as standard in the car.
However, one of the most interesting points of this 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is that it receives a larger capacity battery inherited directly from the Ioniq 5 N.
Until now it used a battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh, but it is replaced by one of 84 kWh. The increase is notable and should bring with it an increase in autonomy, but for the moment Hyundai has not commented on the matter. For reference, it offers a range of up to 507 km per charge.
There is no mention of the small 58 kWh battery, so we assume that it will still be available for the access version. Nor are any changes announced in the mechanical range, so the offer should continue to be structured in the two rear-wheel drive versions of 170 and 228 HP, the all-wheel drive version of 325 HP and the N of 601 HP.
Yes, there are changes at the chassis level, since a specific tuning of the suspension has been carried out to improve driving comfort and the vibrations that reach the steering wheel have been reduced.
At the moment it has only been indicated that the updated model will begin to be marketed in Korea this March and that it will arrive in the rest of the markets gradually throughout the year. We will have to wait for the specific date for Spain, as well as to find out their prices in our country.
