Mumbai: Google under Alphabet is in advanced talks to buy 22.5 acres of land in Juinagar, Navi Mumbai, according to reports. Google is reportedly planning to set up a new data center in India. California-based Google will set up the data center on lease on land owned by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
If the project goes ahead, it will be the first data center that Google will develop on its own in India. However, this has not been officially announced by Google.
The present location was previously owned by a chemical company called Herdilia Chemicals. D.C. Leased. It is reported that the negotiations to transfer the space to Google are in the final stage. Taking into account current property rates in the vicinity and MIDC's transfer charges, the deal would be around Rs 850 crore.
Google has signed some deals to lease space in colocation data centers in Navi Mumbai and Noida. At the same time, this is the first data center that the company is developing on its own. There are reports that Google has leased a data center from Adani in Noida in 2022.
