Mozilla Firefox is one of the most popular web browsers in the Internet world. Firefox is a browser that offers more data security and safer browsing than other browsers including Google Chrome. However, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has issued an alert to all Firefox browser users in India.
Indian cyber security team has found multiple vulnerabilities in the browser. They can enable a cybercriminal to remotely execute code on your device, reveal information, bypass security controls, and create a denial-of-service situation on the affected system.
This vulnerability affects Firefox versions prior to 124 and Firefox ESR versions prior to 115.9. This also affects Mozilla Thunderbird versions prior to 115.9.
According to CERT-In, this vulnerability exists in Mozilla products because of Windows Error Reporter. Hackers may exploit this vulnerability in a variety of ways. For example, coding errors may be used to trick someone into visiting a malicious website or to gain unauthorized access, steal information, or crash a system.
CERT-IN warns users of Mozilla products to update them as soon as possible. The company has currently released the latest updates for the browsers. CERT-IN advises not to install apps from third-party sources and not to click on unfamiliar links.
