Citroen Basalt

French automaker Citroen has launched the Basalt coupe SUV in the international market. After the C3, EC3 and C3 Aircross SUV, the Basalt is the fourth vehicle to be launched by Citroen as part of the C Cubed programme. The design features of Basalt, which is expected to be released in the second half of this year in India, are clear from the images. The Basalt will come as a rival to the Tata Curve in the Indian market.

Relationship with C3 Aircross

Citroën has also announced that the Basalt SUV manufactured in India will be exported to South American countries. The Basalt will be based on Citroen's CMP platform. The Basalt will sit above Citroen's C3 Aircross. Coming as a four-door SUV in coupe body style, the Basalt shares many similarities with the C3 Air Cross.

exterior

The front grilles are divided into two parts. Citroën has replaced the halogen lights on the C Cubed models with projector headlamps on the Basalt. Meanwhile, there is no significant change in the LED DRLs or the bonnet. The cladding above the wheels has been squared off. The roof line that slopes from the top to the sides adds to the coupe design of the vehicle. The alloy wheels are stylishly finished in gun metal finish.

The rear tail lamps of the coupe-designed Basalt are larger than those of the C3 Air Cross. Dual tone bumper in black and silver colors. At 4.3 meters long, the Basalt is the same length as the C3 Aircross. The arrival of the Basalt will be a strong competitor to the Tata Curve in the mid-size coupe SUV segment.

Interior

Interior details of the Basalt are still not officially released by Citroen. However, expect a similar dashboard to the C3 Aircross but with more features. Features such as electric folding mirror, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, push button start and keyless entry, which were not present in the C Cube models, are likely.

Powertrain

The Basalt will be powered by a 110 HP, 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine. There will also be manual/automatic variants. The electric model is expected to arrive six months after the Basalt's release. Citroën has announced that it will release more information about the Basalt in the middle of this year. Looking at it, Basalt's EV model will be released early next year.
