400 km range; Skoda's small SUV Epic | Skoda Unveils Epiq Electric Concept: Entry-Level SUV in the Works 400 km range; Skoda's small SUV Epic
Skoda has released the design of the Epic compact SUV. Expected to be launched next year, the Skoda Epic is priced at 25,000 Euros (roughly Rs 23 lakh). The arrival of the Epic EV replaces the European versions of the Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen VW T Cross in our market. The possibility of a cheaper Epic EV coming to the Indian market in the future cannot be ruled out.
Like all of Skoda's other battery EVs, the Epic's name starts with E. The Epic will be manufactured in collaboration with Volkswagen. A-Zero BEV is what Skoda is calling the Epic. It will have a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a boot space of 490 liters. Being an electric SUV, you can expect more space inside.
design
The Epic will feature Skoda's 'modern solid' design features. With a sleeker grille and a power bulge on the bonnet, the Epic does not have the usual Skoda logo on the front. Instead, you will get Skoda badging written in English letters. The APK also features slim 'T' shaped LED DRLs. Square-shaped wheel arches and shark fin C-pillar make the Epic look attractive. 'Skoda Epic is based on a modern solid design philosophy,' says Oliver Stefani, chief designer of Czech carmaker Skoda.
Interior
The Epic EV will have more interior space than similar sized ICE cars. The Epic has put this advantage of being an electric vehicle to good use. The design of the cabin is simple and beautiful in a minimalist style. The Apk features a large central touchscreen similar to that found in Tesla models. The two-spoke steering wheel has buttons and scroll wheels. Design nuances in the boot space can be seen in the form of bag hooks and underfloor compartments.
Battery and motor
Expect a battery capacity of 38kWh to 56kWh and the range of the Epic will be close to 400km. The motor will be at the front to keep space and travel comfort in mind. Another feature of this Skoda vehicle is the digital key with many features that can be controlled from the driver's smartphone. The Skoda Epic with bi-directional charging can also be used as an energy storage unit. In short, the APK can also be used to charge other cars and battery devices.
Will it come to India?
The Skoda Epic EV will be manufactured in Pamplona, Spain. If the main question is whether the Epic will arrive in India, Skoda India is giving an indication that it will come. Skoda plans to launch the Epic SUV by making necessary changes to suit the Indian market. The possibility of building on the low-cost MEB 21 platform cannot be ruled out.
