The decision of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is to make waves in the Indian SUV market. Toyota will launch four brand new models in the Indian car market in the next twelve months. Toyota is launching four models namely Urban Cruiser Tysor, Fortuner Mild Hybrid, 7 Seater Highrider and Urban Electric SUV.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Taysor
The Urban Cruiser Taysor is a vehicle that Toyota is launching in the compact SUV segment to replace the discontinued Urban Cruiser. Toyota will launch the Urban Cruiser Taysor on April 4. It will be Toyota's first car in India in the compact SUV coupe segment. Maruti Suzuki Fronts' brand-engineered model, Tysor, will be a joint venture between Toyota and Suzuki.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taysor will be launched below the Urban Cruiser Highrider and above the Glanz. Headlamps, DRLs, tail lights and alloy wheels are all expected to be different from the Maruti fronts. Expect new colors and interior changes. The Tysor will also get the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine options as the Frangs. The 1.2 liter engine churns out 90 hp of power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. The naturally aspirated engine will have 5-speed manual or AMT options. The turbo petrol engine comes with 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.

Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid
Toyota's popular SUV Fortuner comes with a mild hybrid option. The vehicle will have a 48 volt mild hybrid system. This will reduce the Fortuner's pollution and increase its fuel efficiency. 197bhp, 500Nm, 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Although Toyota has not yet announced that it will be released, it can be expected in early 2025. The main competitor is the Ford Endeavour. Endeavor's return is also expected to occur during the same period. Fortuner, which currently has a strong presence in the Indian SUV market, may get a hybrid system and demand may increase. Toyota has already introduced the same hybrid system in the Hilux.

Toyota is launching the 7-seater Highrider as a challenger to the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar. The arrival of the 7-seater will come with changes from the standard 5-seater model. Expect a 1.5 liter strong hybrid petrol engine. The Highrider will also come in a 6-seater model with captain seats.
Urban Electric SUV
The Urban Electric SUV will rival the Maruti Suzuki EVX along with Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XUV300. It will be Toyota's first fully electric car. The Urban Electric SUV will be the Toyota version of the Maruti eVX. The Urban Electric SUV will be built on Toyota's 27PL Skateboard platform, which is exclusive to electric cars. Dual motor and all wheel drive option. Two battery pack options of 45kWh and 60kWh. 60kWh battery has a range of 550 km. The price is around 25 lakhs.
