It was in 2013 when Porsche launched the Macan, the second SUV in its range, after the Cayenne. Eleven years later, in 2024, the second generation arrives. But if you think this is just a review, you’re wrong: this is a completely new car. Let’s start with the design. Porsche Macan 2024, we tell you everything, detail by detail.
It is clear that it is quite a Porsche, and as such it is recognizable, not only by the logo, but also by a design of the lights that we already know from the Panamera, the Cayenne, the new 911 and the Taycan. But they are only daytime, because the short and long ones are one level below, which can optionally be matrix LED. This not only gives the nose a little more height, but also a new distribution that leaves the pure design above, and the functional below. But in addition to looking very Porsche, you also see electric car details. Specifically, the Mission E and the Taycan, and we see it in this line below. And it is something that we already saw in 2015 prototypes, which the Taycan later inherited and which the Macan now receives. It’s just a detail, but it may already be a hallmark of electric Porsches.

Another detail: this is an air inlet that recirculates it through the wheel arch, and improves aerodynamics. And speaking of aerodynamics: this spoiler lip also improves it, as do more closed wheels. In its general conception you can see greater care for aerodynamics, so that a Macan like the one you see has a CX of only 0.25. It may not seem so good when compared to the 0.2 of an EQS, but it is certainly an excellent value for an SUV this tall.
And let’s move from the front to the side, where, let’s say, the elephant in the room is. And the Macan has grown a lot, almost nine centimeters, which means that we now have a wheelbase of 2.89 meters, and a total length of 4.78 meters. It grows considerably, which is reflected in the interior. But there is no shortage of Porsche design details, such as the line of the windows called Fly Line, and of course the coupe silhouette of the roof towards the back. By the way, it reminds me of the Cayenne Coupé, which is 13 centimeters longer, and is therefore much larger. In the electric version it has the charging connections behind here, one on each side. Here the direct and alternating current, and on the other side, only alternating. And now let’s move on to the rear, where there are a lot of details.
Here we read Macan 4, the access version. And we see a more forceful rear, with this band of light that crosses it, and the lower part in black, which I had not seen before. All this enhances the width of the car. As for the aerodynamic elements, we have a spoiler that emerges from 70 km/h, is hidden again at 50 km/h and at high speeds is regulated, to always optimize the aerodynamic effects. The rear diffuser is also very aerodynamic. Obviously it is not as extreme as in other Porsche models such as the GT3, but it also contributes to aerodynamics.
And I can’t leave the rear without talking about the trunk. As you can see, with a somewhat high but very flat loading threshold, although the most important thing is the volume: it has a capacity of 540 liters, and if you fold down the folding seats in a 40/20/40 ratio, it reaches 1,348 liters. And before I forget: we also have a small cargo space in front. There are 84 extra liters in the Frunk. And it is no small thing: to demonstrate it, I have brought my trolley, and as you can see, it fits perfectly. It sticks out a little, but I can close the hood perfectly. This means that, in total, it offers 127 liters more total capacity than the previous Macan, a surprising value. Although of course, we are dealing with an electric vehicle, which usually has more space, but it is still an excellent figure. And before entering the cabin, I want to show you this great detail: the frameless doors. This is a very long time for an SUV, I have only seen it in the Lamborghini Urus and the Ferrari Purosangue, but I don’t think many more models of this type have it. And now, let’s go inside.
It is not an unknown environment: it is a mix of the Cayenne and the Taycan, because I have this 10.9-inch screen here that we already know. What the Macan does debut is the same size screen for the co-pilot, which the Taycan and the new Cayenne do have. And you can access a lot of information from the central screen, but the novelty is that the co-pilot can also access data from the digital cockpit, such as speed or lateral acceleration. And by the way: as soon as I put the lever in position “D”, the passenger screen is no longer visible to me. So the driver only sees a black surface, while the co-driver can continue enjoying all the content: news, YouTube, etc.
A couple of things about connectivity: we have Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. And although the general system is based on Android, Porsche allows you to download apps from both systems. But not everything is digital: here we have a very analog detail, and I’m not just referring to the typical Porsche clock, but also the physical buttons here and there and also on the steering wheel. There are not only touch surfaces, but real buttons that many people still prefer. And it’s very good that Porsche maintains it in its new models. And before going to the back I want to talk to you about the storage spaces, like this one here for the Smartphone with inductive charging function. But you can also use a cable with the USB-C input in this huge compartment down here, where I have kept the key. A key, by the way, that feels great in the hand and looks very elegant. For the rest, I have two cup holders as standard and here a central glove box, apart from the usual glove box, of course. It certainly has a lot of space for objects, but now, let’s move on to the rear seats.
