EU Urges US to Halt Israeli Military Aid Amid Gaza Crisis

Gaza massacre

Washington: EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the US should reconsider military aid to Israel to stop the massacre of civilians in Gaza.

“If you believe that too many people are being killed, you should reduce the supply of weapons to prevent so many people from being killed,” Borrell told reporters after a meeting of EU ministers in Brussels. Borrell made this demand by reminding US President Joe Biden that Israel’s attack on Gaza is going too far and US officials have said that many civilians are being killed in Gaza.

“If the international community believes that this is a massacre and that many people are being killed, then we need to rethink giving weapons,” he added.

Meanwhile, Israel intensified its attack on Gaza’s Rafah, where hundreds of thousands of homeless people have taken shelter. As of Monday morning, 67 Palestinians have been killed in air and sea attacks by Israeli occupation forces in Rafah, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Aljazeera reported that people were panicking as they did not know where to go during the night’s widespread attacks. Women and elders ran into the streets, carrying their children, seeking safety from the Israeli bombardment. According to the report, the attack was beyond imagination and the sounds of Israeli warplanes and surveillance drones were heard throughout the area. Buildings in Rafah were shaken by the continuous blasts. The refugee population of Gaza is afraid that the attack may repeat tonight.

Meanwhile, the Dutch government has decided to appeal to the Supreme Court against a Dutch court order to halt the export of F-35 jets to Israel, citing its use in war crimes in Gaza. A Dutch court has ordered a seven-day freeze on exports over concerns that the jet parts were used in Israel’s war in violation of international law. But the Dutch government has said the F-35 is critical to Israel’s self-defense against threats from Iran, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon.
