WASHINGTON — Donald Trump, who has described himself as the ‘designated nominee’ for the presidency, asked the Supreme Court on Monday to protect the rights of millions of Americans who want to vote for him.
As the Supreme Court is set to hear a case to remove him from the Colorado ballot, Trump’s lawyers have argued that removing him would be ‘undemocratic’. Trump’s lawyers have appealed Colorado’s decision to disqualify him from running in the state.
In December, Colorado’s Supreme Court ruled that Trump was disqualified from running for president, citing his role in trying to sway the 2020 election results and his role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
