Top Rivals of BYD Seal U

BYD Seal U

The Chinese SUV has strong competition.

BYD has managed, despite being one of the Chinese car brands that have most recently arrived on the Spanish market, to be one of the firms that generates the most expectation with its new launches. The last one is now available in our lands and today we are going to analyze its competition: these are the five worst rivals of the BYD Seal U.

Since it has just debuted, the first thing is to put on the table what this model offers.

It is a D-segment SUV with a length of 4.78 meters, with capacity for 5 people and with a trunk that measures 552 liters, expandable to 1,440 liters by folding down the rear seats.

It is sold exclusively as an electric car, but with two different versions, both with the same 160 kW (218 HP) and 330 Nm motor, but with different batteries and, therefore, also with different ranges.

The Comfort has a 71.8 kWh battery that gives it a range of up to 420 km, while the Design uses an 87 kWh battery and a range of up to 500 km.

Furthermore, with all the discounts and aid applied, it is available from only 34,080 euros.

Tesla Model Y

It is easy to put Tesla as the main rival to beat, basically because it has been the best-selling electric vehicle in 2023 in Spain, Europe and around the world. Elon Musk’s model has carried out a policy of continuous price reductions that place it at a starting point of only 35,760 euros.

For this amount it offers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 217 km/h; as well as, more importantly, a range of 455 km, which makes it a very interesting option in terms of price/range of action. In addition, its higher versions offer higher performance or ranges of up to 533 km.

Renault Scenic

The case of Renault is a clear example of what it means to renew or die. The former representative of minivans has recently presented the generation in which it has become not only an SUV, but also a 100% electric model.

Although it is somewhat shorter (4.47 meters), it serves as a family car and has a 545-liter trunk that expands to 1,670.

It is available in two versions: the entry-level one with 125 kW (170 HP) and 280 Nm, and a higher one with 160 kW (220 HP) and 300 Nm. In addition, it can mount a 60 kWh battery with which it achieves a range of 420 km and another 87 kWh with which it reaches 620 km.

Its price starts at 38,703 euros, but the aid from the Moves III plan can also be added.

Ioniq 5

The Ioniq 5 is the spearhead of Hyundai’s electric range, a medium-sized SUV that has under its belt being the most powerful street model in the brand’s history thanks to its 641 HP N version, but it also stands out for its a very staggered range of “rational” versions that offers options for different tastes.

The entry variant is rear-wheel drive, develops a power of 170 HP, has a 58 kWh capacity battery and has a homologated range of 384 HP. The intermediate one is also 4×2, reaches up to 228 HP, uses a 77 kWh battery and its range is up to 507 km.

Above is the version with all-wheel drive, which already delivers 325 HP, has the same large battery and has an intermediate range of 454 km.

Their rates start at 35,610 euros with a promotion of more than 12,000 euros.

Let’s EV6

The EV6 is the twin of the Hyundai, so despite its somewhat more daring design, they share the same innards, that is, their mechanical versions are identical, with a range made up of three standard variants and crowned by the Kia EV6 GT, which It develops 585 HP of power.

It is available from 47,960 euros.

Volkswagen ID.4

The Volkswagen electric car has been on the market for a while, so it recently had time to present an update that improves its performance and makes it an even more capable model.

The Pro access version develops 286 HP (82 HP more than before) and 545 Nm, and is now capable of reaching 180 km/h maximum speed. The Pro 4Motion develops the same power, but has all-wheel drive; while the sporty GTX delivers 340 HP and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

In the best of cases, it approves a range of 550 km. It is available from 48,015 euros.
