On that day, the Prime Minister opened the tunnel worth 777 crores; The authorities want to completely change the work today
New Delhi: Due to delay in completion of construction and negligence in maintenance, Pragati Maidan tunnel in Delhi has been completely destroyed.
777 crore rupees were spent on the construction of the tunnel, which was a dream project. The tunnel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2022.

The Public Works Department said that it is no longer possible to carry out repairs and renovations should be done from scratch.
The 13 km long tunnel with five underpasses was constructed as part of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project connecting Central Delhi with Noida and Ghaziabad.
Last year, the tunnel was closed several times due to flooding during the monsoon.

Public works officials say that whenever there is moderate to heavy rain, water enters the tunnel.
On February 3, PWD contractors Larsen and Toubrock issued a notice to make changes to the faulty design and carry out repairs.
The company failed to complete the work on time, the notice said. The project tendered in 2017 was intended to be completed in 2019. But the inauguration could be done only in 2022.
The PWD said that action should be taken under criminal and civil laws against the company which had given a design guarantee of 100 years.
