Michigan – The mother of Jennifer Crumbley explained in court why she bought a gun for the 17-year-old boy who shot and killed four students at a Michigan high school. The boy’s father, James Crumbley, bought his son a 9mm SIG Sauer handgun as a Christmas present. Jennifer said that the day after the gun was given to her as a gift, she was taken to a shooting range.

The gun was given to the child to be used only at the shooting range. Husband is responsible for keeping weapons in the house. The child was failing in homework and assignments. Grades were poor and discipline problems were never communicated with teachers. The boy was worried about what he was going to do after high school. But Jennifer added that the child did not seem to have any mental problems.

∙ Ignored warning
He did not believe that his son could do such a violent act. As a parent, everyone will try to protect the child from other dangers throughout life. Our child is not expected to harm anyone else. “I wish he had killed us instead of killing other people,” Jennifer said.

On the day of the attack, the teacher called the parents to the school after seeing a picture drawn by the child on the child’s desk. The parents were shown this picture and suggested that the child undergo counselling. Meanwhile, parents who refused to take their son home sent him back to class. This was followed by an attack that claimed the lives of four people.
