India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki’s MPV model Ertiga has set a new sales record. The manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has informed that in the last 12 years, 10 lakh units of Ertiga MPV, which started hitting the roads in 2012, have been sold. Maruti claims that the Ertiga is the fastest selling MPV in India.
41 percent of Ertiga owners are MPVs for the first time. Maruti Suzuki points out that buyers are the most important feature. This vehicle has been able to have a strong presence in the urban and rural markets alike, the MPV. It has a 37.5 percent market share. Apart from India, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is also exported to a few foreign countries.
This vehicle was first launched in 2012. This MPV managed to sell one lakh units in its first year. In the next six years, four lakh more units were put on the roads and in 2019, the sales of five lakh units were reached. In 2020, sales were increased to six lakhs. In the subsequent four years, it has completed sales of four lakh units and crossed the magic number of 10 lakhs.
High fuel efficiency, more comfort and low price along with advanced features are the factors that attract users to Ertiga. The 7-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment system, more than 40 connected features, cruise control, air-cooled cup holders and excellent seats in the second and third row are the factors that make the Ertiga more attractive.
Ertiga was initially available in petrol and diesel engines, but the diesel model was withdrawn after BS6 engine norms were implemented. Later, if it came only in petrol engine in the first stage, CNG soon followed. Fuel-powered Ertiga was also brought to the market.
Maruti Suzuki’s next-gen K-series gets a 1.5-litre dual-jet VVT. The engine powers the Ertiga MPV. It produces 103 bhp. Power is 138 Nm. and torque is produced. It also gets five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission options. The model with mild hybrid technology ensures a fuel economy of 20.51 kmpl while CNG. The mileage of the model is 26.11 km.
