Karachi: Hours before the general election in Pakistan, 25 people were killed in separate bomb blasts near the party office and the office of an independent candidate. 42 people were injured. The blasts took place in Balochistan province.

The first explosion took place outside the office of independent candidate Asfandiar Khan Kakar in Pishin district. 17 people were killed. 30 people were injured. About an hour later, eight people were killed and 12 injured in an explosion outside the office of Jamiat-Ulama Islam Pakistan in Qilla Abdullah area.

Senior police officer Abdullah Zehri said the blast near Asfandiyar Khan Kakar’s office was carried out by remote control and an explosive device was left in a bag outside the building.

He informed that the condition of some of the injured is very serious. Sehri added that 17 dead bodies could be counted and the death toll may be higher. He responded to the media that these are attacks carried out by terrorists to scare people away from voting.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has also confirmed that there were explosions in two places. The commission also informed that the security systems have been increased in the context of the elections. Balochistan Interior Minister Jan Achaksai condemned the attack. He also announced through X platform that the election will be held as scheduled. Interim Custodial Minister Gohar Ijaz condemned the explosion in Pishin. He condoled with the families of those killed in the attack.
