In the absence of Hummer, the M-HERO I is good.
Although they are gradually arriving in our market, it is quite common that many of the new features presented among Chinese cars still do not leave their country of origin. That is why we celebrate when models are announced for launch in Spain that are, so to speak, special, and this is one of those cases.
And we are not talking about a low-cost utility vehicle or a car that seeks to gain a foothold among premium brands, we are talking about what will probably be the most brutal and powerful 4×4 that is going to be sold in Spain, the M-HERO I.
You only need to look at it to realize that it is a real mass that even transmits vibes of a military vehicle. It measures almost 5 meters long, which, added to its nature as an electric car, means that it easily exceeds 3 tons in weight.
A zero-emission propulsion system made up of four electric motors that develop a combined power of 1,088 HP is responsible for moving such a mass. It has a 142.7 kWh capacity battery to approve a range of 450 km.
However, the Chinese brand will also offer an electric alternative with extended autonomy. In that case, there are only three electric motors and the power remains at 816 HP, but a thermal block is added that acts as a generator. In this case the battery is only 65.9 kW, but it has an 84-liter gasoline tank and can travel up to 750 km.
What has not been specified is its recharging, nor the power at which the process can be carried out, nor the time it takes to refill the battery, especially the first one, which is enormous.
Speaking of a 4×4, a key aspect is the off-road performance it enjoys, something influenced by the presence of a pneumatic suspension that allows the height of the vehicle to be varied by up to 150 mm.
Thus, with the standard height it has a ground clearance of 230 mm, an attack angle of 31º, a ventral angle of 19.7º and a departure angle of 31º. When taken to the off-road position they improve as follows: ground clearance of 335 mm, an attack angle of 36.8º, a ventral angle of 27.9º and a departure angle of 37.5º.
In both cases its fording capacity is notable, reaching 900 mm.
The M-HERO I has already confirmed its arrival in the Spanish market, thanks to Salvador Caetano Auto, which is responsible for the marketing of Dongfeng, Voyah and M-HERO cars. Of course, neither the date on which it will occur nor its price has yet been specified.
Regarding the latter, rumors suggest that in China it will be available for just over 637,000 yuan, which at the current exchange rate is about 82,500 euros. However, it is expected that its sale price in Spain, with added transportation costs and other expenses, will be higher.
