Shakti's 'This Moment' Triumphs: Grammy Glory for Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain

Los Angeles: Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s fusion band ‘Shakti’ shines at Grammy Awards. The award for the best global music album went to the latest album ‘This Moment’. Shankar Mahadevan received the award along with another member of the team, Ganesh Rajagopal. ‘This Moment’ was released in June 2023. Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, John McLoughlin, V. The album consists of eight songs composed by Selvaganesh and Ganesh Rajagopalan. Zakir Hussain has won three Grammy Awards, including the Best Global Music Performance Award and the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album Award.

Songs from October 1, 2022 to September 15, 2023 were considered in various categories. Pop singer Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ was named the best album. Miley Cyrus beat out Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish to win the award for best solo pop performance. Laney Wilson’s ‘Bellbottom Country’ was named Best Country Album of the Year and Carol G’s Manana Serra Bonito was named Best Urban Album.

In the R&B (Rhythm and Blues) categories, Snooze won Best Song, SOS won Best Progressive Song and Coco Jones’ ICU won Best Performance. Theron Thomas is the best writer.

South African singer Tyla won in the new categories of African Music Performance, Michele DeGocello in Alternative Jazz Album and Kylie Minogue in Pop Dance Recording.
