Ford to Introduce Electric Mustang Mach-E in India

There was an assurance given by the American car manufacturer Ford when they said goodbye to India. A few premium vehicles will be imported and sold in India. It was announced that Ford’s luxury model Mustang will be delivered. The new report says that the company is on the move to keep this promise. It is indicated that instead of the Mustang, the electric version of the Mustang will be brought to India.

Ford’s electric model is called Mustang Mac-E. Crossover Electric SUV This range-topping vehicle will be completely manufactured abroad and imported into India for sale. Although the price has not been clarified, it is expected to be between Rs 70 lakh and Rs 1 crore. Competitors will be vehicles like Volvo XC40 Recharge and BMW IX1.

The Indian version of the Mustang Mac-E will have a similar design to the global model manufactured in Mexico and China. As the sale of Ford’s Chennai plant has been canceled, there is a possibility that this electric vehicle will be assembled in India. It is certain that this vehicle will arrive in India with the release of the documents for trademarking the Ford Mustang Mac-E.

The electric version is similar to the regular Mustang. As is common with electric vehicles, the front grille is shrouded. A narrow LED that protrudes into the bonnet. It has a headlamp. The bonnet is designed with proportional power lines and bulges. Being a crossover vehicle, the roof and the rear end are designed to be sloping.

The vehicle is available in rear wheel drive and e-all wheel drive variants in standard range and extended range segments. The entry-level model is powered by a 70 kWh battery. Its rear wheel drive model will give a range of 402 km and the all wheel drive model will give a range of 360 km. The extended range model ensures a range of 505 km for the rear wheel drive version and 446 km for the all wheel drive version.

Recently, Ford hinted at a comeback at the company’s Chennai plant, J.S.W. The agreement to sell to the group was cancelled. Earlier, Mahindra & Mahindra and Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker Winfast had tried to acquire Ford’s Chennai plant. J.S.W. Ford abruptly canceled the contract with the group. Ford has announced that it will end operations in India in September 2021.
