London ∙ A chemical attack on a woman and two girls in Clapham, South London. Three and eight-year-old girls and their 31-year-old mother were attacked with chemicals on Wednesday evening, shocking the neighbors and the police.
Police confirmed that it was not an acid attack. The attack used a chemical that caused severe burns to the body. The police said that the assailant was Abdul Shukur Izidi who came from Newcastle. But even after 48 hours of the incident, the police have not been able to arrest the accused. Although the police have the information including the picture of the accused, the fact that the investigation cannot lead to an arrest is becoming a headache for the Metropolitan Police.
The condition of the injured woman in the attack is serious. Metropolitan Police Commander John Savell says that the children have overcome the danger. He briefed the media about the progress of the investigation so far yesterday evening. The last information received is that the suspect who carried out the attack boarded the Victoria line from London King’s Cross station at nine o’clock at night.
Abdul Shukur, who came to Britain in a lorry from Afghanistan in 2016, is accused in a sexual assault case in 2018. The reason why he came to London and carried out the attack is not clear.
