Kia EV9: First Look at Kia's Flagship Electric SUV

Test drive images of Kia’s flagship electric SUV EV9 are out. Although Kia has not officially announced, the electric MPV is expected to arrive in India this year. The production model of the EV9 Concept, which was showcased at the New Delhi AutoExpo last year, was launched in the international market in March 2023. It will be the same in India.

The vehicle has vertical shaped headlamp connect LED lamp, daytime running lamp and different shaped tail lamp. The interior of the vehicle is luxurious. There are three screens for infotainment, instrument cluster and climate control. The first and second rows are ventilated seats and there is a wide range of features like three-zone climate control, regenerative braking and paddle shifters.

The electric SUV is coming to India as part of Kia’s 2.0 strategy to reach 10 percent of the Indian market share. Kia has also announced that new touchpoints will be launched for this. The EV 9 will be Kia’s second electric SUV after the EV 6. After that, Kia will also launch a small EV aimed at the mass market.

The three-row vehicle will have different seat layout configurations. EV9 will arrive with premium features. Although more details of the new electric SUV have not been released, there will be two battery packs of 76.1kWh and 99.8kWh. The 76.1kWh battery pack will be available in the single motor rear wheel drive configuration and the 99.8 kWh dual motor rear wheel drive configuration. The power of the dual motor will be 379 kmph. The lower battery capacity model has a range of 358 km and the higher model has a range of 541 km. Using the DC fast charger, the charge goes from 10 percent to 80 percent in 24 minutes. The vehicle’s battery has the capacity to store a charge to travel 248 km in fifteen minutes.
