EV6 is the first electric vehicle brought to India by the South Korean automaker Kia Motors. Although the price is more than half a crore, this electric model has got a record of being sold out before the vehicle arrives. Hoping for the EV6’s acceptance, the big brother of this vehicle is also arriving in India. This electric SUV is being prepared under the name of EV9. Reports are that it will hit the market soon.
Kia Motors has showcased the EV9 concept at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. A year later, the production version of this vehicle started testing on Indian roads. Kia Motors’ flagship electric model, the EV9, is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2024. However, the makers have not officially announced the information about the launch.
According to the pictures of the vehicle that went on test run, the production version has been prepared in full justice to the concept model. The headlight is done in a vertical design with L-shaped DRLs. It was also seen in the concept model. A position light is also provided at the beginning of the bonnet, connecting the headlights. A hooded grille and a large air dam give it the look of an electric vehicle.
The interior is packed with advanced features. Three screens are provided for infotainment, instrument cluster and climate control. Ventilated seats are provided in the first and second rows. Along with the heated system, the stylish design of the steering wheel can also be changed for the interior. The interior has a wide range of features like three-zone climate control, regenerative braking and paddle shifters.
The Kia EV9 is expected to hit the streets in a single motor-rear-wheel drive variant with a 76.1kWh battery pack and a 99.8kWh battery pack and dual-motor rear-wheel drive variant. The dual motor version produces 379 bhp. Power is generated. It is indicated that the manufacturers are ensuring a range of 450 km for this vehicle.
The base variant of the Kia EV9 will reportedly have multiple variants based on the battery pack. The model with the smaller battery pack ensures a range of 368 km while the higher version offers 541 km. The battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 24 minutes using the fast charger. The vehicle will also have a range of 248 km on a 15-minute charge.
