Zelensky Offers Dual Citizenship to Foreign Fighters for Ukraine

Kyiv: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has offered citizenship to foreigners and Ukrainians in other countries fighting alongside Ukraine in its war against Russia. Zelensky also informed that his proposal will be submitted for the approval of the Parliament.

Zelensky’s statement was made while addressing the nation on Ukraine’s Unity Day. Ukraine will offer dual citizenship to foreign nationals. For this, a proposal will be submitted to the Parliament to make changes in the Constitution.

Ukrainians and their descendants in other countries can obtain citizenship as part of the struggle for Ukraine. However, Zelensky also stated that citizenship will not be given to Russians.

The Russian occupation of Ukraine is approaching two years. Russia declared war on Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Since then, Zelenskiy has been calling for the unity of Ukrainians. Ukraine is heavily dependent on foreign countries for military and economic needs.
