Paris – Protest by throwing soup at Leonardo da Vinci’s world famous Mona Lisa painting. According to reports, a protest related to environmentalism is behind the protest by throwing tomato soup at a painting preserved in the Louvre museum in Paris. Although two cans of tomato soup were thrown, the painting was preserved inside bullet-proof glass, so the picture is safe.
One of the activists took off his jacket and revealed that they were representatives of the environmental group ‘Repost Alimentaire’ written in large black letters. They claim to be a protest organization in 12 countries around the world. AFP reported that the protest was organized for the right to ‘healthy and sustainable food’.
Mona Lisa is one of the most valuable paintings in the world. It holds the Guinness World Record for the highest insurance valuation of $100 million in 1962. This is the first attack since May 2022 when mustard was thrown at a painting at the Louvre museum in the French capital, Paris. A man dressed as a woman approached the painting in a wheelchair and first launched the attack. The attackers were immediately arrested and evacuated from the museum. Later they were handed over to the police.
