FAA Requires Inspection of Boeing 737-900ER Door Plugs

Washington: The US Federal Aviation Administration said that Boeing’s 737 aircraft will need to be inspected. The agency informs that the Boeing 737-900ER aircraft should be inspected. More testing is needed on door plugs on airplanes. The US agency’s action comes in the context of many airline companies finding faults in inspections.

The 737-900ER is not part of Boeing’s new MAX range of planes. However, these aircraft are given the same design as Max’s door plugs. Several airlines had tested the 737-900ER and found the defect. Following this, the US aviation authorities are also preparing for inspection.

At the same time, a Boeing spokesperson said that it will fully cooperate with the US Aviation Agency’s proposal. The Boeing 737-900ER was first sold in 2007. The Boeing spokesperson added that the last aircraft was delivered in 2019.

Alaska Airlines made an emergency landing after the plane’s door broke and flew off immediately after takeoff. Boeing’s 737-9 Max aircraft was involved in the accident that day. However, no one was injured in the accident. Boeing’s 737 Max series of aircraft crashes have killed 346 people. In 2018 and 2019, plane crashes occurred in Indonesia and Ethiopia.
