ICJ Rules Israel Must Prevent Genocide in Gaza

Israel Genocide Gaza

Last day, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague ruled that Israel must take measures to prevent genocide in Gaza. The International Court of Justice issued an interim judgment in the case filed by South Africa. The court also ruled that Israel must do everything possible to provide Gaza with the humanitarian aid it needs. It has also been directed to submit a report to Israel within a month in this regard. However, the court did not consider the demand for a cease-fire order. Court judge Joan Donoghue delivered the final verdict.

On the first day of South Africa’s complaint to the International Court of Justice, South Africa and the second day of Israel presented their arguments. The trial was held on the 11th and 12th of this month. South Africa presents evidence that Israel’s continued occupation of Gaza constitutes genocide. Adila Hashim, the lawyer who appeared for South Africa, pointed out that a pre-planned genocide is taking place in Gaza.

The response of different countries of the world to the verdict of the International Court of Justice is Palestine

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki welcomed the International Court of Justice ruling. The verdict states that no nation is above the law. Israel has not been able to prove that it has not violated the terms of the 1948 Convention on the Prohibition of Genocide. The court saw Israel’s politicking, diversions and extreme lies. Palestine demands that all countries, including Israel, respect the ruling of the International Court of Justice, the foreign minister said in a statement.

Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu described the verdict of the International Court of Justice as extremely surprising. Israel is fighting a war like never before, Netanyahu said in the video message. Israel will fight to ensure the security of the country and its citizens while complying with international laws.

South Africa

South Africa described the International Court of Justice ruling as a ‘decisive victory’. South Africa welcomed the ruling and said it hoped Israel would comply. This is a crucial milestone in providing justice to the Palestinian people. We will continue to work internationally for the rights of the people of Gaza.

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said Israel must end the war in Gaza if the verdict is accepted. How do you provide drinking water and aid without a ceasefire? If the court verdict is read, the ceasefire will have to be implemented anyway – he said.

Hamas

Hamas responded that the verdict of the International Court of Justice is very important. The verdict may help isolate Israel and expose the crimes it commits in Gaza to the world.

U.S

The US responded that the International Court of Justice ruling was in line with its position that Israel had the right to act in self-defense. The allegations of genocide have not been substantiated. The court did not say it was genocide or ordered a ceasefire. The court said that the hostages held by Hamas should be released unconditionally as soon as possible – the US State Department said in a statement.

Qatar

Qatar welcomed the interim ruling. Israel must take all means to ensure that the war against Gaza does not violate the understandings agreed upon under the Anti-Genocide Convention. Qatar hailed the verdict as a humanitarian victory. Qatar said that it is seen as a victory of justice and international law.

Egypt

Egypt welcomed the ruling that Israel must take steps to stop the genocide in Gaza. Egypt also stated that it is looking forward to calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, as the International Court of Justice has done in similar cases.

Turkey

Welcoming the verdict, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he hoped the verdict would help end attacks on civilians in Gaza. There will be an end to violence against women, children and the elderly. He also responded that the verdict from the court is valuable.

Iran

After the verdict, Iran responded by demanding that the Israeli authorities be brought to justice. South Africa and the Palestinian people were congratulated on their victory at the International Court of Justice. The authorities of the pseudo state of Israel are the most hated people in the world today. They should be brought to justice for genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people – Iran’s foreign minister responded.
