LONDON – Serial killer nurse Lucy Letby (34), who is in prison for killing newborn babies, has been given the key to her own cell, according to international media reports. International media reports that other inmates living inside the prison said that Lucy’s life in prison is like living in a hotel, the only difference being that she is surrounded by criminals. The incident came five months after Lucy was jailed without the possibility of parole for killing seven newborn babies and attempting to kill six others.

This allows Lucy to lock herself in her cell to escape if she feels threatened by her fellow inmates. The keys are handed over to residents of Category A HMP Bronzefield as a reward for good behavior in prison. This has sparked opposition from parents of children who were victims of Lucy Letby’s brutality. Lucy Letby was previously held at Low Newton Prison in County Durham. Critics point out that the defendant received new benefits when HMP was transferred from there to Bronzefield.
Lucy Letby reportedly befriended two other killers in prison. Reports suggest Letby befriended Michelle Smith, who killed her own 42-day-old baby, and Shauna Hoare, who helped kill 16-year-old schoolgirl Becky Watts. According to reports, the trio plays board games together, eats together and spends time together.
Labor City of Chester MP Samantha Dixon criticized prison chiefs for their decision to give Letby the key to his cell. She added that this was not the right decision. Meanwhile, the prison spokesperson has clarified that inmates in some of our core units are given keys to their cells to secure their personal belongings.
